Artist's Comments

I was on the road last week to drop off a couple paintings at a gallery out of town. A tornado was going through the area so I had my camera out in case I saw anything. Anyhow, these were just for fun.

LOL, the first pic totally reminds me of my own ID picture, we've even got similar sunglasses! :XD: The co-pilot is also quite priceless, and your choice of vehicle is also rather cool! :)

danke mein freund. yeah those pics are pretty spot on, but i obviously need a hair cut lol. ironically the road that i was on (I-94) is where the proposed high speed rail is going to go if Chicago gets the olympics :-D.
Which reminds me, when the economy picks up again (and i have extra cash) i might ask your help about a specific db engine. I love Marklin and wanted to get one of the red commuter trains that I often took on my last trip. I know there are a lot of different ones still in service, but I was wondering what was the most common commuter engine in use?
:iconshenanigan87:
That heavily depends on where in Germany you happen to be, and what you define as commuter, as all regional DB stock is red nowadays. The most common engine is probably the class 143 from the former GDR, which pulls all S-Bahn trains that are still classic loco+carriage trains instead of newer EMUs. You'll also find class 111, occasionally some old 110s, and the newest regional engine is the 146, but I think if you add all of those three together, you'd still end up with fewer engines than there are 143. The Commies built lots of them back in the day ^^

thanx for the engine info :-). i think the one i'm looking for is the 111, but i love history and i love the look of the 110. in my photo called "hamburg" i think that represents the model i saw the most, but i'm not sure what it is.
i rode the ice a lot too which was amazing. very clean, comfortable and fast, but i still love the old school engines for style. they also seem to have more personality.

thanx :-D

I think I've seen that photo of yours, but checking it again reveals that I can't see the engines on those old "Silberling" trains, just a new Metronom train with a class 146. But it's pretty safe to say that those were either 111s or 110s in front of them.

I can certainly understand you choosing the 110, I'm also a great fan of that engine :D [link]

BTW: Do you have any more photos from your visit to Germany?
